It is safe to say that rap music has quite an influence on our modern society. Maybe that influence is not as strong as the one back in the early 90s, but it is there. People can definitely get rich by succeeding in this music genre. Therefore, if you want to earn some money, you can either become a smart young investor who uses straddle as a strategy to make profits or you can become a rapper. Joking aside, today, we will pay tribute to some of the most successful rappers who graced us with their incredible music.
Eminem
Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is one of the most successful and influential rappers of all time. He first gained fame in 1996 with his debut album Infinite. Since then, he has released nine studio albums and won numerous awards, including 15 Grammy Awards.
His music often deals with personal struggles and controversial topics such as racism, poverty, violence, drugs, and politics. He has also been involved in several legal disputes over the years due to his lyrics and public statements. Despite this, Eminem remains one of the most popular artists in hip-hop today, with a large fan base worldwide.
His most successful album was The Marshall Mathers LP.
Drake
Drake was first an actor on the teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation in the early 2000s. Intent on pursuing a music career, he left the series in 2007 after releasing his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement. He released two further independent projects, Comeback Season and So Far Gone.
His following two albums, Take Care (2011) and Nothing Was the Same (2013), were both critically and commercially successful; the former earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. In 2015, he released two mixtapes—the trap-influenced If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and a collaboration with Future titled What a Time to Be Alive—both of which earned platinum certification in the U.S.
Kanye West
Kanye West was a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s before he became famous as a rapper. His debut album, The College Dropout, was released in 2004 to critical and commercial success. It featured hit singles such as “Through the Wire” and “Jesus Walks”. His second album, Late Registration, was released in 2005 and featured the hit single “Gold Digger”. In 2007, West released his third album, Graduation, which spawned the hit singles “Stronger” and “Good Life”. West’s fourth album, 808s & Heartbreak, was released in 2008 and featured the hit single “Heartless”.
In 2010, he released his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy which spawned the hit singles “Power” and “All of the Lights”. West has gone on to release several more albums, including Yeezus (2013), The Life of Pablo (2016), Ye (2018), Jesus Is King (2019) and Donda: With Child (2020). He has also ventured into fashion with his clothing line, Yeezy.
There are, of course, many more famous rappers, but these three are most successful based on their album sales.
