Hello Comrades! In this article, I’ll be showing y’all how to share data on MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile very quickly as a Nigerian. Sharing data has to be one of the best features that Nigerian Network providers have launched.

It’s not every single time that you have enough money to purchase data or have a cheap data plan available for yourself. So, in these periods, the best option you would have is to get someone to transfer/share data with you from what they have.

You can’t just get data transferred to you from only one person. You can get multiple people to transfer data to you at the same time so that you can have quite enough data for whatever you would need it for.

We’re going to be starting with how to share data on MTN, and then we’ll check out how you can do this on other networks.

How To Share Data on MTN Via USSD

Using a USSD code to transfer/share data on MTN is the most common and easiest way to share your data balance with another MTN user. This approach may be used on anyone and is not time-consuming because everything can be done with only a few clicks.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your dialer and dial *131#
  2. Click on the “Gift Data” option
  3. Now you can either transfer from your data balance or buy data for a friend.
  4. Click on “Transfer from data balance.”
  5. Tap on the box provided and input the phone number you would like to transfer data to.
  6. Now, you can select how much data you would like to send. You’ll be given four options – 50MB, 100B, 200MB, and 500MB.
  7. Now, you can confirm the transfer, and the data will be sent directly to whomever you want to send it to.

You can also use another format using USSD code to send data to another MTN Number. To do this, go to your dialer and dial *131*The Person’s Phone Number*The Amount of Data You Want to Send#.

How To Share Data on MTN Via SMS

To share data on MTN via SMS, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the “Messages” application on your phone
  2. Type in “Transfer <Recipient’s Phone Number> <Amount of Data You Want to Send>
  3. Once you’ve written all that, send it to 131
  4. Once you’ve sent that, the other party should receive the data on their MTN line instantly.

How To Share Data on MTN Via MTN App

Sharing/Transferring data to another person via the MTN App is the easiest way you can transfer data as an MTN user. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Download the MTN App via the Google PlayStore or the Apple AppStore
  2. Register and Log into the application using your Mobile Number
  3. On your dashboard, click on an icon with “Share” written below it.
  4. Click on “Data”
  5. Now, click “New Number” and input the mobile number of the person you want to send the data to.
  6. Underneath where you put the number, select the amount of data you want to send to the person and confirm the transfer.

How To Share Data on Glo Via USSD

As a Glo user in Nigeria, you can easily share data with other Glo users via USSD. Just follow the steps below to learn how to do this.

  1. Open your dialer and dial *777#
  2. Click on “Data”
  3. Select “Share data plan”
  4. Click on the first option – “Share”
  5. Input the phone number of the person you want to send data to.
  6. Confirm by hitting “Send,” and you’ll receive a message confirming that you’ve successfully sent data to the recipient.

You can also use another format using USSD code to send data to another Glo Number. To do this, go to your dialer and dial *127*01*The Person’s Phone Number*The Amount of Data You Want to Send#.

How To Share Data on Glo Via SMS

  1. Open the “Messages” application on your phone.
  2. Type in “Share”, followed by the recipient’s phone number
  3. Once you’ve written all that, send it to 127
  4. Once you’ve sent that, the other party should instantly receive the data on their Glo line.

How To Share Data on Airtel Via USSD

If you’re an Airtel user in Nigeria, and you’ll like to know how to send/transfer data to another person through USSD code, check out the steps below:

  1. Open your dialer and dial *141#
  2. Click on “Share data”
  3. Select “Data Me2U”
  4. Click on “Enter from existing balance”.
  5. Input the phone number of the person you want to send data to.
  6. Click on “Send” to confirm the transfer.

How To Share Data on 9Mobile Via USSD

Sharing data on 9Mbile using USSD is pretty easy. To do this:

  1. Firstly, you have to set a pin code for transfers. For you to create a transfer pin, dial *247*default PIN*new PIN#. The default pin is “0000.”
  2. After successfully creating a transfer pin, go to your dialer and dial *229*Your New Pin*The Amount of Data You Want to Send*The Phone Number You Want to Send data To#.
