Erigga Early Life Before The Fame
Erhiga Agarivbie popularly known as ‘Erigga’ is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and recording artist, he was born on the 30th of March, 1987 in Warri, Delta State where he grew up with his family. He is the first of five children. He obtained both his secondary and primary education at Standard International School.
Erigga dreamt of becoming a professional basketball player and in his early youth he took part actively in sports. At a point, he starred in the milo Basketball School Competitions. He became more interested in the emergence of rap and hip hop to exiting levels in the Nigerian music industry and decided to join the music industry.
He is also known by many other nicknames that includes Eribaba, PaperBoi 2SeC and New Money. He was inspired by rap icons like Rakim, Canibus, 50 Cents, Eminem, Jarule, and Nas. Deriving inspiration from the street, he has battled and won over Port Harcourt, Benin and Warri.
Erigga Music Career
Erigga began his music career in early 2010 when he came out with a music video titled ‘Dem No Get Two Heads’, the music video earned him over 5000 views in the first week of uploading the video. He later released another music video titled ‘Mo Street Gan’. The music video for the song was shot in Nigeria, directed by Akin Alaba. The song became Radio Continental theme song.
In 2013, Erigga released ‘Coupe Decale ft Shuun Bebe’ . The music video was endorsed by TV stations in Nigeria. In early 2014, he released another single titled ‘Love No Be Garri’, featuring Jimoh Waxiu. In July 2023 Erigga released his album ‘A Trip To The South’ which includes Orezi, Skales, Duncan Mighty and many others.
In 2023, He released hit single titled ‘Motivation’ featuring Victor AD. The song has earned over a million views on YouTube. He hooked up with heavy weight producer ‘Lay Low’ to produce his hit single titled ‘Won Be Be’. He has earned himself a place in the fast growing Nigeria industry performing on big stages with top Nigerian artists.
Erigga has won several music awards in Warri, Benin and Delta State. He is currently under the signage of Heavy Weight Emergence record label owned by Snow Man. He has worked with many popular producers and musicians in the Nigerian music industry. Some of them include Snow Man, Phizy Joe and PFizzy. He has also made a lot of collaborations with
Olamide, Duncan Mighty, Orezi and Skales.
Erigga served about four years imprisonment for burglary and a lot of criminal offences. Life on the street and in prison is greatly reflected in his music as he has released many of his album while serving this jail term. As at 2023, he was released from prison.
He has been nominated at the Headies 2012 for the awards of ‘Best Street Hop Artist’ and ‘Lyricist on the Roll’ for his popular song ‘Mo Street Gan’.
